The musical foundation of the theater is the orchestra, an acclaimed ensemble of outstanding instrumentalists. The immense diversity of the repertoire has led to a steady rise in the orchestra's artistic standard in recent years. Today, it is fully capable of meeting such challenges as the complex, exceptionally demanding scores of works by Wagner, Richard Strauss, and a number of contemporary operas.
The musical foundation of the theatre is the Orchestra of Wrocław Opera, a highly regarded ensemble of outstanding instrumentalists. During the period when the city belonged to Germany, great artists of international stature stood at the conductor’s podium in Wrocław, among them Richard Strauss and Carl Maria von Weber. Today, the ensemble of musicians works under the guidance of outstanding Polish conductors, also recognised beyond the country’s borders. The Orchestra of Wrocław Opera currently collaborates with many conductors.
The opportunity to compare the working methods of different masters of the baton brings the ensemble great experience. The Orchestra takes part in performances presenting leading works of world musical literature from the Baroque to the present day as well as lesser-known works, including the newest operas by Polish and foreign composers.
