Ballet

The Ballet of Wrocław Opera is a modern, open and courageous artistic ensemble which builds its identity through a dialogue between tradition and modernity and through collaboration with outstanding choreographers from Poland and around the world. Our ambition is to create a place in which the classics of ballet meet new forms of movement, music and storytelling, inspiring both artists and the audiences of Lower Silesia.

Since 2022, under the artistic direction of Małgorzata Dzierżon, we have been developing a repertoire based on aesthetic diversity, high artistic quality and creative courage. Over recent seasons, alongside classic ballet titles such as The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet and Giselle, we have presented Polish premieres and world premieres of works by acclaimed international choreographers, including artists such as Jiří Kylián, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Meryl Tankard, Rafael Bonachela, Anna Hop, Johan Kobborg, Javier de Frutos and Małgorzata Dzierżon.

Supporting the development of young stage artists, we also create and present performances with new choreography and music by emerging composers as part of the Elements [Żywioły] programme.

Our strength lies in an international ensemble of artists representing different cultures, dance schools and stage experiences. This diversity builds the unique energy of the Ballet of Wrocław Opera and makes it possible to create performances that are moving, modern and universal in their message.

The Ballet of Wrocław Opera wishes to remain close to the residents of Lower Silesia – to create performances that move, inspire and build community through art. We want opera and ballet to be a space accessible to everyone: both lovers of the classics and spectators discovering dance for the first time
