Director, screenwriter and dramaturg. He studied directing at Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw and Italian studies at the University of Łódź. His directing credits include Act III of Apollo et Hyacinthus at Warsaw Chamber Opera, Polish Bethlehem and Polish Fantasy for Mazowsze National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble and Tadeusz Różewicz’s The Card Index at Helena Modrzejewska Theatre in Legnica. In 2021, he received the ZAiKS Authors’ Association Award for his direction of Through a Glass Darkly, a short piece based on Ingmar Bergman’s film. As a dramaturg and translator, he co-created Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist at the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw and William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Michał Zadara at the Komedia Theatre in Warsaw. He is currently associated with the Polish Theatre in Wrocław. His work focuses on telling the stories of people facing extreme situations. He believes that every story requires its own narrative language; in his productions, he therefore seeks a form capable of conveying the characters’ experiences, emotions and perspectives as fully as possible while also creating space for a meaningful encounter with the audience. He enjoys experimenting with form and combining different theatrical, cinematic and musical languages. Outside theatre and opera, his interests include basketball, cooking, long walks with his dog and American comedy.
