After graduating from the Vocal Faculty of Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where she had studied under professor Eugeniusz Sąsiadek, she went on to develop her skills at the masterclasses conducted by professor Christian Elssner, professor Ralf Doring, professor Ryszard Karczykowski, professor Irena Gałuszka and professor Jadwiga Rappe. She was the first Polish holder of Wagner Scholarship in Bayreuth in 2004, endowed by Wagner Society in Braunschweig. She was also a holder of a scholarship awarded by the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and a three-time winner of the award of the Mayor of Wrocław for talented residents of the city.

Since the 2003/2004 season, she has been a soloist of Wrocław Opera. Her repertoire includes a number of operatic roles, among them Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera and Amneris in Aida by Verdi; Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart; and Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen. The recording of Szymanowski’s King Roger in the production directed by Mariusz Treliński, in which she sang the role of Deaconess, won the 2009 Fryderyk Award. Barbara Bagińska has also sung in many of operatic superproductions staged by Wrocław Opera. She has appeared at several international festivals, including the Xanten Festival and Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspiele in Regensburg. For three seasons, she cooperated with Teatr Współczesny based in Wrocław, singing Miss Bagott in Britten’s The Little Sweep. Her repertoire also includes parts in many contemporary music works.
